The first quotes of the vineyards, belonging to the Benedictine Monastery, settled in these lands, Abbazia di Santo Stefano in Genoa, date back around the year thousand. “…And all this part has a large quantity of vineyards that produce wine (…) in such preciousness and goodness that is considered nothing inferior to Malvasie Candiotte nor to the Ciprioti and Grecian wines (…)” Mons. Agostino Giustiniani, 1537.
