CASTELLO DI PERNO producer’s sheet
Nascetta is the only native white variety to the Langhe hills (others grown here such as Arneis or Favorita come from elsewhere) and is in the process of rediscovery by local winemakers. There are only approximately 33ha (81 acres) of the variety grown in the Langhe. Nascetta is a saline, moderately aromatic variety, not so much an aperitif wine as one for light appetizers. Castello di Perno’s vineyards are in the Alta Lang hills, at 700m (2300 feet) altitude, with limestone soils, both of which attributes help supply freshness and subtle complexity.
