Nizza – CASTELLO DI PERNO

CASTELLO DI PERNO producer’s sheet

Nizza was awarded DOCG status in 2014 and is now considered the source of the best Barbera in Italy. The town of Nizza Monferrato is south of Asti, and approximately 30 miles from Barolo.

Castello di Perno winery has 1.5ha vineyard of 80 years old vines with a full southern exposition. The chalky, silex soils ensure plenty of freshness balancing the concentrated fruit after taste. This is an ageworthy, powerful wine of considerable complexity. If you have previously
considered the Barbera variety as simply fruity or juicy, it is wines like this that show its true potential.
