Tenuta San Guido is the result of a long tradition and an ethical message passed from generation to generation. Sassicaia was born from the vision of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, who in the 1940s was experimenting with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes in Bolgheri. What was initially conceived as a “family wine” has later turned into a worldwide success. Meanwhile, Bolgheri has grown to become an attractive wine area and Sassicaia has been awarded the specific denomination: Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC. Since the 2000 harvest, Tenuta San Guido has been producing Guidalberto, another expression of this territory that shows its unique style and Le Difese, the first 2002 vintage.
